Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative proudly announces our partnership with Tennessee Valley Authority and the COVID Community Care Fund. Together we are providing $20,000 to the Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama to help members with utility bills and food during this evolving crisis. For 80 years, SMEC has been proud to serve the electric needs of our members. We hope through the care fund we can help with additional needs resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. We want our members to know we are all in this together. Anyone needing help with paying electric utility bills may contact Community Action Agency of North Alabama by dialing 855-287-1730 for assistance.
Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative is an electric distribution utility serving over 30,700 members in portions of DeKalb, Jackson, Marshall and Cherokee counties. The cooperative is located in northeast Alabama and it purchases power from the Tennessee Valley Authority, who is currently the nation’s largest generator of electricity.
